From Savanna la Mar, Westmoreland, Jamaica
Introducing a Jamaican living legend, Khadneal Patten, whose timeless brush continues to visualize the rich history of Jamaica, beyond the land of water and wood…into a vibeful imagination!
Born in 1946 in Westmoreland, the furthest western Parish of Jamaica, Khadneal started his art career when he was just a child.
While his family went into more traditional careers of trades work, government, and in the private sectors, Khadneal’s calling was to tell Jamaica’s rich history through his inspired life stories.
Patten’s divine visual storytelling talent has evolved into multi-media narratives spanning through poetry, songs, drawings, paintings, including his lush garden and tropical home landscape.
For decades Khadneal has called his unique creative studio ‘home’, surrounded by amazing birds, fruit trees, flowers, plants, water fountains, and the quiet Sav community that evokes Westmoreland’s colorful history and lore.
Khadneal’s creative works are expansive. He has painted numerous large commissions for public and private organizations and customers, including painting the large roundabout mural in Negril’s center of town. Currently, Khadneal is preparing for a large retrospective of his work in Jamaica and then travelling to the United States for more international exposure.
